Mountain Parkway Ramps Closing This Week
Eastbound ramps at KY 7/Exit 75 to close to allow construction
SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (June 4, 2017) – Two ramps on the Mountain Parkway in Magoffin County will close early this week as workers continue major construction on the parkway near Salyersville.
The eastbound ramps at the KY 7 interchange (Exit 75) – both for traffic exiting and entering the parkway – will close early Monday, June 5. These ramps will remain closed for up to a week.
The closures are necessary to allow crews to construct new ramps between Kentucky 7 and the Mountain Parkway. Mountain Parkway travelers affected by the closures can access KY 7 by traveling westbound on US 460 from the KY 114/US 460 intersection, which is located just east of Exit 75 on the parkway.
Motorists are asked to use caution in project work zones. The speed limit in the area has been reduced, and traffic on the parkway may be slowed or stopped periodically for the safety of workers and travelers.
About the Mountain Parkway Expansion
The Mountain Parkway Expansion is a 46-mile transportation improvement project that will create a wider, safer connection between Eastern Kentucky and the rest of the Commonwealth. It is a key transportation project designed to close the only gap in a 400-mile, four-lane, high-speed corridor for commerce and mobility across Kentucky from Pikeville to Paducah. The project will widen 30 miles of the existing parkway to four lanes and extend the parkway by about 16 miles between Salyersville and Prestonsburg.
