Magoffin-Floyd Groundbreaking

Gov. Andy Beshear joined local, state and federal officials on August 18th to break ground on the final section of the Mountain Parkway Expansion.
 
This 13-mile stretch of new four-lane highway will connect Salyersville in Magoffin County to Prestonsburg in Floyd County, marking a major milestone in improving safety, mobility and economic opportunity in Eastern Kentucky.

The six project segments include:

  1. Wolfe County (11 miles)
  2. Morgan County (8.2 miles)
  3. Magoffin County West (4.6 miles)
  4. Magoffin County Central (5.7 miles)
  5. Salyersville/Restaurant Row (2.4 miles)
  6. Magoffin-Floyd (13 miles)

5000+ Vehicles:

Thousands of vehicles travel the Mountain Parkway each day. This expansion project will support future growth and increase capacity for regional travel.

45 Total Miles

  • 32 miles of existing parkway widened to four lanes (Campton to Salyersvilles The 45-mile expansion consists of widening the existing parkway and constructing the new roadway.

  • 13 miles of new, expanded four lane parkway  (Salyersville to Prestonsburg)
