Turn Lanes Being Added on Restaurant Row
SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (October 26, 2017) – As part of a continued commitment to work for our citizens and local businesses to provide an improved roadway, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has updated the roadway design plans in the Restaurant Row Segment of the Mountain Parkway Expansion.
The 2.4 mile Restaurant Row Segment runs from just east the end of the current Mountain Parkway through a business district in Salyersville. The expansion project will widen the primary roadway to four lanes, limit entry points and expand a system of local access roads.
In addition to five intersections already planned, left turn lanes will be built at three additional locations to improve traffic flow and access to local roads and businesses.
When completed, the four-lane roadway will include left turn lanes to allow eastbound traffic to access:
- A connector road to the local access road being built on the north side of the project (near First Commonwealth Bank);
- Pine Point Road;
- Old Burning Fork Road (near Faith Free Will Baptist Church).
The changes were made during continued consultation with state and local leaders to create an improved roadway that will better serve the needs of Eastern Kentucky.

John Blanton. “When I asked Kentucky Transportation Cabinet leaders how we might provide better access, they responded with a solution that suits the needs of the traveling public and businesses in the area. This is an important stretch of roadway for the region, and we want it to appropriately meet the needs of everyone.”
About the Mountain Parkway Expansion
The Mountain Parkway Expansion is a 46-mile transportation improvement project that will create a wider, safer connection between Eastern Kentucky and the rest of the Commonwealth. The project will widen 30 miles of the existing parkway from two lanes to four lanes, and will extend the parkway another 16 miles between Salyersville and Prestonsburg.
